Building a Resource Hub for the HoRN Network
USAID

USAID
The Horn of Africa Resilience Network (HoRN) supports USAID’s objective to strengthen regional and cross-national collaboration and improve evidence-based resilience programming. We helped these efforts by building a resource sharing and management platform on WordPress that allowed user-submission and management of resources in audio, video, and text format.
With shared challenges across the HoRN of Africa, various actors such as community organizations, development program implementers, research and academic institutions, bilateral missions, national and local government offices, and donor organizations working in the region needed a resource hub for improved collaboration and learning.
The HoRN Learning hub serves as an invaluable source of expertise and information that aids these actors to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural shocks and stresses in the Horn of Africa.
Knowledge is stored in silos and difficult to access unless you know who to ask
Some HoRN countries having poor internet access
No singular place for all actors to get to know of events taking place in the region
With the outlined challenges, we considered various solutions that would best address them.
A knowledge hub built on the WordPress CMS, Bootstrap 5 and as a mobile first solution.
